Targeted Action Against Drug Supply in Dewsbury Over the past 12 months, the Dewsbury & Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has received multiple reports from concerned residents regarding suspected drug dealing and supply activity in the Reform Street and Gladstone Court area of Dewsbury. These reports highlighted a persistent issue that was having a visible and detrimental impact on the local community.
Through sustained community engagement and intelligence gathering, officers were able to build a clear and credible picture of the ongoing criminal activity. This included identifying patterns of behaviour, specific individuals of interest, and the use of vehicles to facilitate the supply of drugs.
Acting on this intelligence, PCSO Dawson contacted Proactive Intercept Team (PIT), and organised and executed a targeted patrol operation in the affected area. The operation was a resounding success, resulting in:
Sergeant Kennedy commented: “The issues of drug supply and use in our communities will always be tackled and never tolerated. The impact of these crimes is far-reaching, often linked to other offences and wider organised criminal networks. This fantastic result was made possible through the diligent work of PCSO Dawson, who utilised community intelligence and developed a focused approach to addressing the issue. By working in partnership with the PIT team, we were able to deliver a strong and effective response. I encourage anyone with information or concerns to contact the police directly or report anonymously via Crimestoppers. The Dewsbury & Mirfield NPT continues to execute multiple warrants each month, all driven by the valuable intelligence provided by our community.”
This operation serves as a powerful example of how community cooperation, proactive policing, and targeted enforcement can lead to meaningful outcomes. The NPT remains committed to tackling drug-related crime and improving safety and quality of life for residents across Dewsbury and Mirfield.
